Walmart Code 22: Goods billed not shipped.
Walmart Code 22 means Walmart's system recorded receiving fewer units than you invoiced, so Walmart paid only for what it shows as received. It is one of the most common Walmart deductions, and it is often issued in error at the distribution center.
Why Walmart issues Code 22.
- Receiving errors at the distribution center when the shipment was checked in
- The invoice quantity didn't match the advance ship notice (ASN)
- Part of the order arrived on a different load or against a different PO
- Cases were short-shipped and the invoice wasn't corrected
Documents that win.
- Signed proof of delivery (POD) for prepaid shipments
- Bill of lading (BOL) with the case count
- Invoice and purchase order
- Advance ship notice (ASN) for the shipment
How to dispute it.
Locate Code 22 on your Walmart remittance and note the invoice and PO.
Collect every document listed above for that shipment.
Submit it in the Accounts Payable Dispute Portal (APDP) in Retail Link, with the documents attached. This code is reported as eligible for mass dispute creation.
If Walmart returns it for supplier action, respond within its 7-day window.
Reviews typically take about 60 to 75 days.
Why disputes on this code fail.
- The POD was signed short and nothing contradicts it
- The invoice quantity really was higher than what shipped
- Documents were attached for the wrong PO or invoice
PreventionReconcile invoice, ASN and loaded case count before the trailer leaves. Ask carriers to record the case count on the BOL.
Walmart generally reviews accounts payable deduction disputes up to two years after the deduction. Dispute as early as possible: the oldest claims expire first.
