Target Code A036: Cost difference (PO vs. invoice unit price).
Target Code A036 means the unit cost on your EDI 810 invoice was higher than the unit cost on Target's EDI 850 Purchase Order, so Target deducted the difference. To win a dispute in Synergy, you must provide proof that the buyer approved the higher cost prior to the PO ship window.
Why Target issues Code A036.
- An approved cost increase was not updated on open POs in Partners Online before the shipment was invoiced
- Supplier invoiced by the case cost while Target's PO was priced by the individual unit (each/DPCI)
- Promotional cost reduction ended, but Target's PO still reflected the promotional unit cost
Documents that win.
- Purchase Order and Vendor Invoice
- Written buyer approval or Partners Online cost change acceptance showing the effective date
- DPCI item setup sheet confirming unit-of-measure pricing (each vs. case)
