Walmart Code 23: Merchandise returned, credit not received.
Walmart Code 23 means Walmart deducted the value of returned, recalled, or store-damaged merchandise because it claims no credit memo was received from the supplier. It is disputable if you have a Destroy in Field (DIF) / defective allowance agreement that prohibits return deductions, or if a credit memo was already applied.
Why Walmart issues Code 23.
- Defective or unsaleable goods were processed through a Walmart Return Center without a matching supplier credit
- Supplier already pays a Defective Merchandise Allowance (Swell Allowance) that should cover returns
- A credit memo was already issued and deducted twice
- Return shipment never arrived at the supplier's warehouse
Documents that win.
- Signed Walmart Vendor Agreement showing a Defective/Swell Allowance (Destroy in Field terms)
- Return Center claim report from Retail Link showing return tracking/BOL
- Carrier tracking proving the returned goods were never delivered back to the vendor
- Prior remittance advice if a credit memo was already deducted
How to dispute it.
