Target Code A030: Carton shortage.
Target Code A030 is the official Accounts Payable deduction code for a full-carton shortage recorded when a shipment is received at a Target Regional Distribution Center (RDC) or Upstream DC (UDC). It is one of Target's highest-volume deductions and is resolved through Synergy in Partners Online.
Why Target issues Code A030.
- Target DC receiving staff missed scanning cartons during unload
- Cartons from one PO were split across multiple pallets or trailers
- ASN (EDI 856) case count did not match the EDI 810 invoice
- Overage was checked in under a different PO on the same BOL
Documents that win.
- Signed Proof of Delivery (POD) with Target DC stamp for Prepaid shipments, or signed Bill of Lading (BOL) showing carrier pickup for Collect shipments
- Original Purchase Order and Vendor Invoice
- Packing list / manifest showing carton counts per PO
